Kite flying is one of the easiest hobbies to learn. With just a little practice and a slight breeze, anyone can launch a homemade or store-bought kite with ease. Larger kites require a little more knowledge and understanding. However, before you fly any kite there are a few things that you should know...
Don't fly a kite near buildings or trees. They will only cause turbulence and ruin the fun.
Don't fly a kite near power lines. You'll be embarrassed when you have to call the power company to get your kite down. Besides, the wait will cut into your flying time.
Don't fly a kite near a busy street. Kites and traffic don't mix. Remember, if your kite causes an accident, you pay.
Don't fly a kite in rain or thunderstorms. Ben Franklin aside, flying a kite in a storm is a good way to get killed. That really ruins the fun of kite flying.
Don't fly a kite within three (3) miles of an airport. The winds are probably great there, but the FAA says "No Way" and the Feds can really ruin your fun.
If your kite is too fast, then add a tail to it. Adding one will slow it down, making it easier to fly. Tails work with any kite and inflate with the wind to look great in the sky.
The bottom line... Kite flying is FUN! ![]()
